Wallflowers

by Colleen Barry
Written 12-17-04

You watch the world from your flourished corner,

And quietly soak in the golden sun.

Shy and sweet is your demeanor,

And lavish love you do become.

Your homely face lost in the sea,

Your dazzling eyes gaze at the world.

But shy and sweet you fail to notice,

The wallflower growing across from thee.

Two blooming wallflowers unaware,

That the other flower is even there.
