Quidam's View

Fed Into Oblivion (Test Patterns)

One Nation…under surveillance,

“Big Brother” is always watching.

The school homecoming queen

A superficial drama teen,

Always out to make a scene…

We thought we crash landed in a perfect world…

No nuclear family,

Just an alien and a hippie,

The test tube baby’s life unfurled.

Tryin’ to use my x-ray vision to view the true unseen,

One more thing to do and I’m gonna scream!

‘Cause life is getting harder as a teen.

Is what I’m casted as today life or just a dream?

‘Cause quietly I lay in bed,

Watchin’ the dream reel in my head, of

Test patterns and roaring static…

And psycho killing clown fanatics.

‘Cause even in the dead of night,

The “feds” rule everything in sight.

These thoughts fed into mind’s oblivion,

The point of consumer goods pressed and driven…

Into everything we ever see

And what we want will not be free.

Catch rock star’s million dollar shopping sprees,

While helpless captives can’t be free.
