Quidam's View

Hooky

by Colleen Barry
Written 12-09-04

Eyes closin’ and I’m sweetly dozin’,

Miss my classes for the day.

Skippin’ lunch ‘cause I’m still snoozin’

My teachers don’t care anyway…

Instead they’ll sit there and say:

(Chorus)

They say, “do what you want to,

Do what you will do,

In the real world…BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!” (x2)

(Bridge)

I’m playin’ hooky, jammin’ to ‘Dookie,’

Doin’ what I want to half the day.

Gotta beat my folks home,

Chattin’ on my cell phone

Good to be out of class today…

But my teachers don’t care anyway,

Instead they sit there and they say:

(Chorus x2)

Callin’ into the school,

Bein’ mom, I am so cool

Claimin’ that I’m stayin’ home today,

‘Cause I’m not feelin’ well anyway.

(Bridge)

Doin’ what I want to,

Doin’ what I will do

Failin’ in the real world anyway!

Hangin’ at the ‘muzement park,

Getting’ home before it’s dark,

Havin’ a blast all day today…

‘Cause I don’t give a damn anyway!

Imagine what my folks would say!

(2nd Bridge)

They’d say:

“You are bein’ such a fool,

Get your lazy butt in school.

Go get your education,

So you can help our great nation!”

If my father catches me,

That’ll be my end you see,

Grounded for eternity.

Hopin’ that I won’t get stopped,

Got my eyes pealed for the cop!

So I guess I just won’t get…caught!

(Bridge x2)
