Quidam's View

Persephone

by Colleen Barry
Written 11-07-07

Plucked from grace and frolic free

To live with Death most solemnly.

Fair face hidden in fairer hands,

Cursing gods for strength life demands.

Captured cruelly by Hades’ hand;

Now forever bound to more than this land.

From safe haven to Hell again and again,

A cycle that takes vital years from my end.

With Hell’s demons, my war does wage,

Continually battling at such an age.

Turning the seasons with each amend,

Heaven on Earth and back again.

Willing for the day when returned to nurturing arms

And leave behind Hell’s beguiling charms.

Deceptive fiend who took me whole

Snatching me from life, damned soul and foe.

Persephone I be; Hell and back I’ve been…

And only few years to my life I’ve seen.
