Quidam's View

Like a City Night

by Colleen Barry
Written ?

Like a city night she changes,
Her flare in all its wonder,
She livens up, puts on her best.
Tonight she's out to paint the town red.
Like a city night
She dances, her body swaying to the music,
She's kissing away her darkest problems
And enjoying her day for once.
The hustle and bustle becomes who she is.
Like a city night her dreams come true,
And now she’s the life of the party.
But like a city night, the day will soon return,
She loses all of her playfulness.
The gloom from life returns in its bleakest manner,
No longer does the rhythm beat.
Behind closed draperies she stands,
The light not her friend,
And here she weeps until the night comes back,
Returning her best companion.
