When Nothing Goes Together

Torch the bridge,

Watch it kneel in flames

To its rippling master

Whose waves extinguish a passion.

And the rain continues to come down in droves,

And it soaks me to the bone,

Straight through my clothes.

Staring at headlights,

Blinding me in the review mirror,

And I’m turnin’ ‘round,

Driving away in terror.

This ink-and-paper girl,

Ruffle her edges and she’ll tear…

Falling into a million confetti pieces in the floor…

And suddenly, no one cares.

And she’s crying, but for all the wrong reasons.

And she's wandering through all the many seasons,

And she's thinking how fast time is going by…

And she's walking...right to her guy.

And the blind man is telling me

That he’s seeing my future…

And I’m yelling out that he is a liar!

I just want to soar on tattooed wings of ink and skin,

And forget about the places I've been...

The ones that brought about nothing but trouble...

And the places I've left in piles of rubble.

When Nothing Goes Together is actually a compilation of short poems that I wrote and could never actually finish in whole. So, what better way to finish them by joining them together?
